‘Hanna's Hill’ Cabernet Malbec
Our ‘Hanna’s Hill' shows the best of Frankland River in this marvellous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) and Malbec (35%). All from our Russell Road vineyard, it is a super reliable region especially for red grape varieties. Once crushed and fermenting, there are frequent pump-overs to ensure maximum colour & flavour extraction from the skins. After pressing out, the Cabernet was put to barrel in new and older French oak for 18 months maturation; most of the Malbec was in tank with new oak staves before each batch was assessed prior to blending and bottling.
COLOUR
A very dense, dark crimson.
AROMA
Has the red and black berry fruit aromas so typical of these varieties with an attractive hint of pomegranate molasses and complexed by the lightly spicy characters from the French oak.
PALATE
This is generously flavoured with delicious red berry fruit flavours. It is fresh and bright with those ‘freeze dried’ raspberry fruit flavours along with a hint of spiciness like raspberry liquorice. The Malbec component typically contributing the juicy and vibrant fruit characters which complement the more structured Cabernet Sauvignon component. The tannins are well integrated and consistent across the palate so with its vibrant, red berry fruit flavours it can be enjoyed now while also having the structure to reward further cellaring.
CELLARING POTENTIAL
Beautiful drinking now and over the next 6 years or so. A great match with any well flavoured meal.
