‘Old School’ Chardonnay

Our ‘Old School’ Chardonnay is from specific blocks from our Langton & Karri Oak vineyards in Mt Barker. This fruit is picked a little later than our Styx Gully Chardonnay to produce a slightly fuller style of Chardonnay.
The 2024 vintage was the warmest in several years, requiring careful monitoring to ensure the perfect balance of fruit and acidity at vintage. To enhance richness and soften the palate, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. Extended contact with yeast lees for ten months post fermentation added weight and creaminess, seamlessly integrating vibrant peach and melon flavours with subtle oak nuances
COLOUR
Bright and clear with a touch of pale golden straw.
AROMA
Honey on toast, Anzac biscuits and granola with toasted almonds along with the peachy stone fruit and vanilla creme brulee.
PALATE
This Chardonnay is soft rich and toasty with no sharp edges like silky smooth velvet giving a lovely weight and creamy texture of vanilla bean custard with peaches and white nectarine. Enjoy now with any meal or cellar for a while to allow it to develop more buttery notes and some bottle age complexity.
