Cabernet Merlot

Our Cape to Cape (white label) wines are approachable, fruit driven wines made for enjoying now and over the short term. As with previous releases, most of the fruit is from our mature vineyards in Mt Barker, with a smaller portion from Frankland River.

COLOUR

A deep, dark crimsony red.

AROMA

Good depth of the fragrant, rich, dark berry fruit aromas so typical of these varieties; eg boysenberry and blackberry along with a ‘cherry ripe’ character adding complexity

PALATE

Lovely sweet and smoky dark plum fruit flavours along with some delicious blackberry fruit characters. The wine is well structured with these generous dark berry fruit flavours complemented by the chewy, lightly drying tannins picked up from the skin contact during fermentation.

CELLARING POTENTIAL

Has a well weighted palate with lovely, sweet and fresh dark plum fruit flavours along with those delicious dark berry fruits. Typical of Cabernet, it’s well structured with these generous dark berry fruit flavours complemented by the chewy and drying tannins picked up from the skin contact during fermentation.

Has the depth of fruit to be enjoyed now with a well flavoured meal and, with its good tannin structure, it will continue to improve with further bottle age. Enjoy with everything from a cheese platter to a medium rare steak.
