Malbec

All this fruit is from our Russell Road vineyard in the super reliable Frankland River region. 
The 2021 vintage was excellent with no untoward weather events, just the way we like it! With its consistent weather pattern of warm days and cool nights the fruit could ripen fully and develop excellent flavour with no disease risk etc. Traditional winemaking with regular pumpovers during fermentation has ensured maximum colour and flavour extraction. Then, with maturation in French oak barriques for 17 months plus 12 months in bottle, the result is this well balanced and well-integrated wine.   

COLOUR

A very dense and rich looking, dark crimsony red. 

AROMA

Has beautiful, dark berry fruit aromas of mulberry and blackberry along with a hint of fresh violets adding complexity to the nose.

PALATE

Medium bodied, our Malbec has a good density of vibrant and fresh, sweet dark berry fruit flavours. Its gentle acidity provides the freshness and lift to the wine and balances those sweet fruit characters. The generous mulberry fruit flavours, so typical of Malbec, are complemented by the gently drying tannins and contribute to its good length of flavour. With these delicious fruit flavours this Malbec is perfect to enjoy now with any meal while also having enough tannin structure to handle another year or so in the bottle.
