Single Vineyard Pinot Noir
All this Pinot Noir fruit is from our Karri Oak vineyard, immediately adjacent to the Langton winery in Mt Barker. Planted to a mix of clones, most of these vines are now quite mature at 20+ years old. The season was later than usual but with no ill effect on an early ripening variety like this. Traditional winemaking and careful maturation in oak have produced this gentle but well flavoured wine.
COLOUR
A gorgeous light bricky-red colour.
AROMA
Has a more savoury nose with a ‘umami’ like character along with some lovely sweet fruit aromas of preserved plum and dark cherry, all complexed by some smoky prosciutto like aromas.
PALATE
This Pinot has the initial soft fullness typical of the variety with a generous amount of those lovely, slightly savoury, fruit characters. Its lightly drying tannins make for a well structured Pinot and after a period of oak maturation and some time in bottle, it is an approachable but complex Pinot Noir. It would be superb with many foods but especially, an Asian styled duck dish.
