Riesling
Our Mt Barker Riesling is all from our favourite Block 6 on the Langton vineyard, just a few hundred metres from the winery. After a cool wet winter, the growing season was quite moderate though it was a later start to vintage, and we harvested in early March. As usual, we picked at night to take advantage of our low overnight temperatures and the free run juice was then fermented at cool temperatures preserving the delicate fruit characters.
COLOUR
Very bright and clear with a light gold tinge.
AROMA
Our ’23 Riesling is quite floral and fruity on the nose; it has sweet lime fruit aromas with an attractive hint of citrus blossom.
PALATE
This is a delicious dry Riesling that is still fine and delicate. It is well weighted, with a good depth of lovely, delicate, sweet lime fruit flavours. It is a Riesling with palate weight and texture with quite pretty fruit flavours and good palate length. It has a delicious tangy acidity which gives it its good persistence and it finishes with a nice lemon sherbet character.
CELLARING POTENTIAL
Delicious now, this would make a terrific aperitif or cellar for a few years for some attractive bottle age, up to ~8 years.
